Abilities Simplified
Abilities are becoming easier to understand, more rewarding to upgrade, and a much bigger part of the overall Stumble Guys experience.
The new system streamlines progression while ensuring every upgrade feels meaningful.

What's Changing?
Reduced Ability Levels
Abilities now progress through 9 levels instead of 15.
With fewer levels, each upgrade delivers a more noticeable improvement while maintaining overall progression strength.
Single Upgrade Path
Players no longer choose individual stat upgrades. This removes guesswork and makes every upgrade easier to understand.
Instead:
- Upgrades automatically improve one or more stats.
- Higher-level upgrades provide increasingly impactful improvements.
- Progression is clearer and easier to understand.

Ability Conversion
No ability progress will be lost during the transition. Existing abilities will automatically convert to the new 9-level progression system. Your level may change, but your overall ability strength will remain aligned.
To help jump-start progression in the new system, players who already own abilities will receive: 5,000 Ability Tokens

UI Improvements
The Ability experience has been refreshed across the game. New improvements include:
New Unlock Ceremonies

New Upgrade Ceremonies
Level Up Ceremony

Max Level Reached Ceremony

Main Menu Overhaul
The Main Menu has undergone a complete visual transformation to align with the modern Stumble Guys aesthetic. Equipped abilities are now visible directly on the Main Menu, making it easier to see your current loadout, spot upgrade opportunities, and jump quickly into ability management.

And more:
- Clearer ability progression displays
- Better visibility on where abilities can be obtained
- Ability stats are now easier to read, with simple progress bars replacing hard-to-understand numbers.
- Updated stat descriptions make each ability easier to understand at a glance.
Ability Visual Variants
Ability visual variants have been removed. Each ability now uses:
- One icon
- One visual identity
- One gameplay presentation
This creates a more consistent experience both in menus and during gameplay.
Max-Level Effects Updated
Abilities no longer unlock special effects exclusively at maximum level.

New Ability: Boost

Introducing Boost, a brand-new movement ability designed for players who want pure speed.
Boost launches your Stumbler forward in a rapid burst of acceleration, allowing you to cover ground quickly, escape danger, or gain an edge in races.
How It Works
When activated while grounded:
- Instantly accelerates the player forward
- Reaches high speed before gradually slowing down
- Ends when momentum naturally expires
Boost cannot be activated:
- While airborne
- While stumbled
Players can still jump or dive during Boost, although doing so will reduce forward momentum.

Upgrade Stats
Boost can be upgraded through: Cooldown, Duration and Speed
Gameplay Impact
Boost introduces a new movement-focused playstyle:
- Fast repositioning
- Quick recoveries
- Race optimization
- Escape potential
Simple to learn, powerful to master.
What changes are being made to individual abilities?
Maxed out abilities no longer have additional effects.
- Removed for Banana, Invisibility, Briefcase, Hug & Volleyball.
- Added from level 1 as a base for Rake and Punch.
These changes support the new 1–9 progression system and are not intended as a standalone balance update.
Cooldown
To make cooldown upgrades feel more impactful, we have slightly increased the gap between the minimum and maximum cooldown values.

As a result, some abilities now have approximately 1.5 seconds more cooldown at the new level 1. Affected abilities:
• Banana • Block Throw • Bouncing Ball • Briefcase • Chicken Bomb • Chop • Dice Roll • Glider • Gust • Hook • Power Jump • Punch • Rake • Rewind • Shutdown • Slap • Slide • Speed Gel • Spin • Spit • Sticky Bomb • Switch
At the same time, we wanted to ensure that lower rarity abilities do not have excessively long cooldowns. Therefore, other abilities have had their cooldowns reduced by approximately 1.5 seconds at the new level 1. Affected Abilities:
• Block Wall • Bolt • Hat Hop • Invisibility • Shield • Snowball
Power
We have slightly increased the power of some abilities at Level 1, as certain abilities previously had effects that were difficult to notice at lower levels. To ensure these abilities continue to have meaningful progression, their maximum power has also been slightly increased.

• Banana • Dice Roll • Gust • Invisibility • Power Jump • Punch • Slap • Slide • Snowball • Spit • Sticky Bomb
This is not a specific balance update. These adjustments have been made to establish a stronger foundation for abilities and create a more consistent and coherent progression system. We will ensure abilities stay balanced and continually monitor them.
Abilities Simplified FAQ
What happens if I had an ability maxed out at level 15?
- An ability maxed out on the existing ability upgrading system will be converted to a level 9 [our new max level] on the new system.
My ability is level X on the existing system, will I still be that level?
- Because the new system has fewer, more impactful levels your starting level may not directly match your previous one, but your overall strength will remain the same.
Why have you removed all the different visual variants?
- We know that some players enjoyed the opportunity to change how abilities looked. However, to streamline the upgrade system we took the decision to remove this option to keep focus on the increase in power that upgrading provides.
Why can’t I choose which stat upgrades like I used to be able to?
- We know that some players enjoyed getting to choose how their ability upgraded but as part of simplifying the system and making it accessible to more players we’ve streamlined how upgrades are applied.
I’ve chosen to prioritise stat X when upgrading my abilities, will I lose progress?
- You may see that stat reduced, while other stats have increased. We have designed the new upgrade path to ensure that at each level the overall effectiveness meaningfully increases.
Where will I be able to obtain Ability Keys and Tokens?
- Ability Keys and Tokens will primarily be available across our new Stumble Pass, but there will be further opportunities to earn them in features like Stumble Journey and Ranked.
Where have the final level effects gone?
- Some older abilities only unlocked their full effect at max level. To make progression more rewarding at every level, we've removed the bonus max-level effects from Banana, Invisibility, Briefcase, Hug, and Volleyball. For Rake and Punch, these effects are now part of the base ability and available from Level 1.
Why can’t I see how much each stat is increasing by?
- We found that raw stat values and small incremental improvements weren’t always easy to understand or compare. So we’ve updated the UI to visually represent how close each stat is to its maximum potential at each level. We understand some players want to see exact stat values, but this update will make upgrades easier to understand at a glance, and keep progression consistent.
Why did you change cooldown times?
- Our goal is to make progression feel more impactful. Previously upgrades to cooldown were small enough that they did not feel meaningful. By adjusting how cooldown scales we have increased the impact provided by each upgrade while max level performance remains unchanged.
